中学英語の未来形：will と be going to の使い方と違い

「〜だろう」「〜するつもりだ」という未来は will や be going to を使います。

I will play soccer.
I am going to play soccer.
私はサッカーをするつもりだ。

まだサッカーをしていないが、する意志はあるのです。will や be going to のある文を未来文といいます。

will の肯定文

will は「ウィル」と読みます。主語（S）と動詞（V）の間に will を入れると未来になります。最初の文は「バイオリンをひくつもりだ」という意味です。

I will play the violin.
You will play baseball.
He will play the piano.
We will go to shchool.
You will go to the library.
They will go to the park.

He will play の play が plays になっていません。英語は三人称単数現在というルールから He plays the piano. と s がつきました。しかし will がつくときは、このルールは消えるのです。

He will walk.
She will listen to the radio.
It will run.

will の否定文

「〜しないだろう」という否定の未来は not を will の後に続けます。最初の文は「私はスマートフォンを買うつもりはない」と訳します。

I will not buy a smartphone.
You will not buy a pen.
He will not buy the house.
We will not study English.
You will not study math.
They will not study science.

will not という未来の否定は「〜するつもりはない」と訳すといいでしょう。三番目の文「彼は家を買わない」を現在形と比べてみます。

（現在） He does not but the house.
（未来） He will not buy the house.

does が will になっています。

will の疑問文

「〜するつもりですか？」と未来についてたずねるときは主語と will をひっくり返します。

He will play soccer.
→ Will he play soccer?
彼はサッカーをするつもりですか？

主語が変わっても同じようにひっくり返します。最後の文は「彼らは鳥肉を食べるだろうか？」という意味です。

Will you read the newspapers?
Will she read it?
(Will we eat fish?)
Will you eat meat?
Will they eat chicken?

Will I ...? と Will we ...? の文はめったに使われません。私が「私は〜するだろうか？」とたずねることはほとんどないからです。

be going to の肯定文

be going to も will と同じように未来を表し、この 3 語でひとまとまりと考えてください。going を go とすることはできません。

I am going to watch TV.
You are going to watch a movie.
He is going to watch the video.
We are going to go to the theater.
You are going to go home.
They are going to go to the restaurant.

単語

be が一人称、二人称、三人称と単数・複数によって am are is are are are になっています。これは通常の be 動詞と同じです。

be going to の否定文

will not と同じように be not going to で未来の否定になります。going の前に not をつけます。to の後では次のようにいいます。

○ He is not going to study English.
× He is going to not study English.

be going to の疑問文

Will you ...? と同じように Are you going to ...? で未来の疑問文をつくることができます。主語と動詞（この場合は be going to の be）をひっくり返すのは他の英文法と同じです。

You are going to give him a pen.
→ Are you going to give hime a pen?
あなたは彼にペンをあげるつもりですか？

He is going to give his son an apple?
→ Is he going to give his son an apple?
彼は息子にリンゴをあげるつもりですか？

be going to の問題１

次の文を訳しなさい。

will と be going to の違い

will は本当に望んでいることをするようなとき、したいと思っていることをするときに使います。それに対して be going to は単純な未来を表します。be going to はそっけない感じ、すでに決まっている予定表を見て「〜だろう」という感じです。

I will go to the theater.
映画館に行きたいんだ。だから行こうと思っているんだ。でもまだそうと決まったわけではないよ。

I am going to go to the theater.
映画館に行くことになっているんだ。もうそういう未来なんだ。

上の日本語訳はとても極端ですが、be going to は wii よりも「すでに決まっている感じ」をもつことは理解する必要があります。
